Merewether Heights

Merewether Heights is quieter and greener than the beach suburbs below. It is a small, residential suburb of family homes, and Glenrock is its backyard. Tracks lead down through the bush to Glenrock Lagoon and Burwood Beach, so a long walk can start right from home. The Yuelarbah Track is about 5 km return to the lagoon, passing waterfalls and Leichhardt's Lookout, and the track from Hickson Street Lookout winds down to Burwood Beach.

There is no café strip here, so coffee and a pub meal mean a short drive down to Merewether or The Junction. Being up on the hill, most people drive for daily trips, and bus services are limited, so check the Trip Planner for the best route into the city. Merewether Heights Public School on Cedar Crescent is the local primary, and older students travel to schools nearby. It suits people who like bush on the doorstep and a bit of space.
